T-28 Fennec ferry flight

from

Casablanca (Morocco) to Tegucigalpa (Honduras)

       In 1978, the Royal Moroccan Air Force sold eight of its Fennecs to the Fuerzas Aeronauticas Honduras,  Those aircrafts, (plus another six purchased by US broker Tallichet) were ferried (across Spain, France, UK, Iceland, Greenland, Canada and USA) by a mix of Hondurean and Moroccan pilots with a civilian registration (HRxxxA). Although most of them were impounded in Fort Lauderdale (Florida) by US Customs or in Blackbushe by the brits, the first flight, Fennec N°1 made her way down to Tegucigalpa - Toncontin airport on April 26, 1978. ( Crew : Captain Oscar A. Servellón Moradel and Juán Ramón Cáceres Vásquez  ). She then received the Air force school identification EAM226.

We have no reports about that flight, but we found some pictures that allowed me to imagine a fictious flight plan which I have tested on my Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

For that purpose, I have used Tim Conrad’s T-28 Navy (http://www.simviation.com/simviation/download.php?ID=5162 ) together with the Fennec#51 texture from Michel Gerard
( http://www.fs2000.org/downloads/doc_details/6679
  )

In order to prepare the aircraft for a transoceanic flight, I have modified the aircraft configuration file as such :

-          Reduced the empty weight to 6210 lbs (armor plates removal and other long range transoceanic arrangements)

-          Increased ths MTOW to 8500 lbs (similar to T-28D specs)

-          Added one 85 USG external tank under each wing ( Total fuel capacity 347 USG) as we can see on the pictures of Fennec #64, taken in Halifax (Canada) in 1978 and Fennec #42 in Blackbushe during those ferry flights.

-          Added a VOR and an ADF indicator for navigation purpose. (too bad I do not have a LORAN)

Note : For that leg, winds 15 to 25 Kts from a front/side sector slowed me down creating a safety risk with only 11 USG left after landing. Tp improve that, they should have reduced the empty weight 200 more pounds to allow use of 100 USG (30 USG more than current) auxiliary tanks.
